Itai Anghel
Journalist, field correspondent in the Middle East
On 10/7/2023, Itai Anghel documented the horrific massacre by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. After filming the atrocities of ISIS in Syria and Iraq and witnessing the mass murders in Ukraine, he was horrified to discover that hell had come to his home in full force. There are things that can only be seen when you go outside. Itai Anghel, winner of the Sokolov Prize for Journalism, will lead us in exclusive documentary segments through Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Russia in order to understand the new set of forces in our neighborhood. In his lecture he also explains his conduct behind the scenes in enemy countries. How, as an Israeli, he moves around in places like Syria or Iraq, sometimes between Shia militias loyal to Iran and areas where ISIS jihadists operate. Dynamic maps will illustrate how Iran sends arms to Israel's border, how it activates Hezbollah, how Israel underestimated the strength and sophistication of Hamas and how all of this is going to affect Israel's next war in Lebanon. Itai Anghel is the only Israeli reporter who has been covering the conflicts in the Palestinian Territories and the world for 30 years. In his lecture, he will bring us an up-to-date picture from the field about the new forces that are rising in our neighborhood and how the map of the Palestinian Territories we knew is falling apart.
